Descartes Launches Latest Version Of Its Booking Portal For Air Freight
Cargo Network Service (CNS) Partnership Conference — Descartes Systems Group, a federated global logistics network, unveiled the latest version of its Global Freight Exchange (GF-X) air freight electronic booking portal.
Descartes' GF-X solution includes a comprehensive, on-line cargo reservation system where air carriers and freight forwarders can complete electronic air cargo bookings. Many of the world's leading carriers and forwarders use Descartes' products in major airfreight markets worldwide, including American Airlines, Air France, British Airways, Delta Air Lines, DHL, Kühne + Nagel, Lufthansa, and Panalpina, among others.
This latest GF-X release provides key benefits for both air carrier users and freight forwarders. Significant enhancements on usability, such as navigational changes, book-marking, single sign-on for multiple roles and real-time confirmation of bookings, enables the system to be more intuitive and user-friendly. Changes to the allotment booking functionality enables the freight forwarder to make single bookings against a template without the need to bulk-load. Additional features include easier visibility of bookings and management of templates. Carriers can maximize their reach through distribution of real-time products, routing, capacity and rating information as well as the capability to include promotional codes.
"We work closely with our customers and partners to update and improve our solutions to help automate their processes and improve overall efficiency when making bookings for air freight," said Julie Calcunovitch, Vice President, Air Product Management at Descartes. "Our latest GF-X release continues to tighten the integration of our air community helping them to work seamlessly together as well as provides even more accessibility to other Descartes air freight and related solutions."
Built upon Descartes' Global Logistics Network (GLN), GF-X integrates with Descartes' multi-party suite of air cargo management tools, including solutions for bookings, shipment monitoring, quality performance reporting and customs filing. In addition to the air cargo management tools, Descartes' logistics messaging network reduces the investment required to connect and exchange documents between logistics and other trading partners.
