Case Study: Delivery Company Keeps Tabs On Valuable Cargo With GPS
By Brian Albright, Field Technologies magazine
For delivery and transportation companies, keeping close tabs on customers' merchandise in transit is an important part of maintaining service levels. If that merchandise happens to include hundreds of thousands of dollars in pharmaceuticals, that kind of tracking is critical — any type of damage or loss can impact revenues and customer satisfaction, and potentially create legal headaches. The nearly 400 drivers at Hauppauge, New York-based TXX Transportation Services make upwards of 6,000 deliveries each day. One of the company's key markets is pharmaceutical delivery, and TXX Transportation is subject to strict tracking regulations and delivery procedures dictated both by customers and the United States Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA). Because its pharmacy customers require fast, accurate track-andtrace data on their deliveries, TXX Transportation recently decided to deploy a GPS-based tracking and dispatch solution to improve security and customer service.
