Datalogic Mobile's Elf Pre-licensed With Wavelink Avalanche Device Management Software
Wavelink Corporation recently announced that Datalogic Mobile is pre-licensing Wavelink device management software on its next generation industrial PDA, Elf. Wavelink Avalanche is pre-loaded and pre-licensed on all shipping devices as it is with other Datalogic Mobile computers.
With the included software from Wavelink, Elf customers receive, at no additional cost, the leading software for centrally managing their devices. Elf will be among the first devices to support Wavelink Avalanche 5, which adds a web-based console, device location mapping, wireless wide area network (WWAN) enhancements and security compliance tools.
With Avalanche, administrators can centrally configure, deploy and manage their mobile devices and wireless infrastructure. The result is improved productivity of mobile workers, increased network security and a reduction of the total cost associated with owning and managing mobile devices and peripherals.

Datalogic Mobile's Elf has a compact design for single-handed operation combined with the ruggedness necessary to meet the needs of applications in field service, field sales, delivery, retail and logistics. Elf is one of the first devices to run Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.5. Datalogic patented Green Spot good read technology with both a laser barcode reader and 2D imager has also been integrated into the product. Elf incorporates an option to support HF RFID for reading and writing as well.
