Credence ID Announces A New Standard In Rugged Biometric ID Terminals
The CredenceTWO-R (for rugged) is built for difficult environments where other terminals fail.
In response to growing demand for a more rugged identification device, Credence ID today unveiled CredenceTWO-R™. This device builds upon the industry leading CredenceTWO platform already deployed around the world. The Credence ID team invested in a new Single Board Computer (SBC), a stronger mechanical enclosure and a protective outer case that all work together to achieve a new standard of durability.
The CredenceTWO-R was tested against Mil-STD-810G, a United States Department of Defense test standard that emphasizes tailoring a device’s environmental design and performance limits to the conditions that it will experience throughout its service life. As an example, the CredenceTWO-R passed the Transit Drop Test, section 516.6-IV, which includes being dropped 26 times at various angles from a height of 122 cm (48 inches). The device operating temperature range has also been expanded to a range of -10˚C to +50˚C.
In addition to enhancements in ruggedization, the CredenceTWO-R has new 4G LTE cellular modem options for the Middle East, Europe, and Africa as well as North American 4G options for both AT&T and Verizon networks. The device will offer a new 13 MP camera for demanding facial recognition environments as well as reading dense bar codes and ICAO travel documents. As with all Credence ID devices, the CredenceTWO-R offers the CredenceCONNECT™ web application which enables administrators to take control of their mobile ID deployments. Features include over-the-air (OTA) updates, mapping of devices, analytics and diagnostics.
“Continuous product improvement is in our DNA,” said Yash Shah, CTO of Credence ID. “As a result of close collaboration with our partners and their end-customers, we are pleased to bring a product to market that is ready for the most demanding environmental conditions. ID applications such as border control, benefit distributions, healthcare, elections, law enforcement and public safety will all benefit from these enhancements.”
CredenceTWO-R will continue to offer the benefits of an enrollment quality FAP 30 fingerprint sensor, as well as optional contact and contactless card reading capability.
