Clean Harbors Puts Safety First With Fleet Complete® GPS Tracking Tool

Source: Complete Innovations Inc.

Challenge
With a safety-first approach at the core of the company’s ethos, Clean Harbors wanted to implement a GPS monitoring system that could help track all of its vehicles, making it easier to locate employee whereabouts and respond quickly to incidents. This was not a decision based on efficiency alone; it was a matter of safety. Clean Harbors found that although drivers of larger trucks were equipped with Motorola MC95 handsets that enabled GPS tracking, drivers of the smaller pick-up trucks within their fleet lacked any means of monitoring or identification.

“GPS fleet tracking provides a competitive advantage in an industry that demands knowing where drivers are at any moment of the day. Health and safety is Clean Harbors’ number one priority, and Fleet Complete ensures accountability and protection of our employees,” says Sharon Catino, Director of Energy and Industrial Initiatives at Clean Harbors.

Although Clean Harbors knew they needed a tracking tool to better monitor many more vehicles in their fleet, they soon realized the benefits could expand well beyond safety alone. Fleet Complete could provide far more insight into driver behaviour than worksheets, logging driver speeds, routes and rest times. Fleet Complete provides odometer readings which are a very powerful point of data to drive the company’s internal preventative maintenance systems creating smarter, safer and more sustainable operational control.
