Cellnet Technology Wins Frost And Sullivan 2006 AMI Technology Innovation Award
Cellnet Technology, Inc. (Cellnet) announced today that it has been named recipient of the 2006 Frost & Sullivan technology innovation Award for the AMI/automated meter reading market.
Cellnet's success in developing wireless fixed networks can be attributed to its singular focus for over a decade. While other vendors offer multiple technologies, Cellnet has devoted all of its resources to perfecting wireless fixed networks for a broad range of utility industry applications.
Cellnet president and CEO Mike Zito remarked, "Our advancements in the practical and cost-effective application of technology have been instrumental in our successful delivery of the largest utility data networks for gas, water, and electric companies across North America."
Cellnet systems are in constant contact with over 10 million North American customers, linking them in real time with their utility service providers for a broad range of utility applications including load management, feeder optimization, rate changes, meter reading, and loss prevention.
Mike Zito concluded, "This award is a tribute to our dedicated teams of R&D and engineering professionals. They have been building our technology leadership position in the market for over a decade."
"Asynchronous frequency hopping and packet switching together allow the Cellnet system to form a connectionless two-way mesh architecture," says Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst J Subramanian. "In this configuration, multiple nodes are created and packets travel shorter distances, 'hopping' from one node to the next."
The Cellnet two-way mesh technology inherently works against congestion. Each individual node in the Cellnet mesh system independently routes packets in an intelligent manner, decreasing system congestion and enhancing the system's robustness. Technology advancements have dramatically lowered the cost of deploying wireless fixed networks for utility applications, while also providing a strategic utility data network that provides a platform for the future.
