The Challenge: Provide a quick & efficient smart grid installation over Trico Electric's vast territory
Because of the broadness of Trico's service territory, they required a meter technician to devote a minimum of 2 days and 200 miles of driving to visit each meter to download usage information each month. To generate a month's worth of billing reads required 60 hours of labor. Trico had an existing power-line carrier AMR system, but because the load profile data requirements exceeded the available bandwidth, an alternate solution was needed.
