Boosting Productivity With Mobile ERP
By Chris MacKinnon, Field Technologies magazine
Canada Place in Vancouver, British Columbia, is one of the busiest spots in Canada, operating 365 days a year and hosting more than 3 million guests annually. It is home to a convention center, hotel, world trade centre, and cruise ship terminal. When Canada Place Corporation's (CPC's) service management team found itself overburdened by paper-based workflows, they realized a more efficient solution was needed.
The ERP application that CPC previously used was heavily customized to address the requirements of service management, but was also heavily paper-based. According to Allan Sorowski, CPC's chief engineer, work orders and purchase orders were printed and distributed only on paper. Labor and purchase requests had to be submitted on paper also, which led to transaction lags because the data was manually entered into the old system in batches.
