Team Transport is in the intermodal business; their fleet of 45 trucks picks up shipments at two terminals in Houston and San Antonio and delivers them to customer locations throughout the US.

Dispatchers had recently been given Compcare desktop dispatching software, where they could log shipments and customer information. But there was no connection between that software and the drivers on the road.

As a result, all shipment information was communicated over two-way radio. Two very busy dispatchers struggled to manage 45 truck drivers within the limitations of radio communications. It was common for drivers to stay on hold for long periods just to get simple answers. Things, such as addresses, that were misheard over the radio caused confusion and delays in delivery times.
