Australian Air Express Selects Blackbay And Motorola To Enhance The Service Delivery Experience For Its Customers

Blackbay, a provider of robust and scalable real-time mobile worker solutions, has announced that its Delivery Connect, is being successfully implemented by Australian Air Express (AaE) to improve customer service by delivering a real-time mobility solution for AaE's express freight services. AaE, owned by Qantas Airways Ltd and Australia Post, is a leading provider of express freight services throughout Australia with over 1,800 drivers in the field. Blackbay's Delivery Connect, real-time mobile worker software, is running on Motorola MC70 rugged handheld computers which have been issued to AaE's drivers.

"Our commitment to quality of service and continued growth is vital to our vision of becoming the premier provider of express freight services in Australia. This commitment has driven our investment in a reliable, scalable and robust real-time tracking solution from Blackbay and Motorola, that will enable us to meet the needs of our customers in an increasingly competitive market," explained Munro Farmer, CIO, AaE.

Following an extensive request for proposal (RFP) process, AaE selected Blackbay and Delivery Connect to provide real-time tracking of deliveries and pick-ups in the field.

The solution has been rolled out to over 1,800 AaE drivers who are currently using the devices to manage and track all deliveries and pick-ups. The solution now provides AaE with electronic proof of delivery, electronic manifests and event and time stamping throughout the delivery and pick-up process, providing increased accuracy of information and real-time online visibility for its customers, reducing the need for customer queries.

"Blackbay's extensive understanding of the logistics market, and its depth of experience in overcoming the challenges of implementing mobility solutions has added significant value to the project. We are confident that Delivery Connect will enable us to further enhance our service delivery and meet the changing demands of the market whilst ensuring that we remain competitive," added Farmer.

"Enterprises are increasingly being challenged to reduce costs, increase employee efficiency and improve the level of service for their customers. It was vital that we could provide AaE with a solution that met these objectives as well as providing a platform for future products. Our collaborative relationship with AaE and our experience in delivering solutions to the transport & logistics market has enabled AaE to meet these increasing demands without driving up costs," concluded David Ffowcs Williams, Global Sales Director, Blackbay.
