AirWatch Announces The Globalization Of Its Mobile Device Management Console And Deeper Integration Between AirWatch And Other Enterprise Systems

The Release of AirWatch 5.11 Allows Global Enterprises to Manage and Secure their Entire Fleet of Mobile Devices across Multiple Languages, Cultures and Geographies

AirWatch, a leading provider of enterprise-wide Mobile Device Management (MDM) software, announces the release of AirWatch 5.11, which includes the globalization of the AirWatch management console and the addition of standard APIs for improved communication and deeper integration between AirWatch and other enterprise systems. This latest AirWatch release also includes a comprehensive software inventory module; greater flexibility when configuring and updating devices; and further enhancements to AirWatch's highly intuitive user interface. Collectively, these new features and capabilities further improve AirWatch's ability to successfully secure, monitor, manage and support an enterprise's entire fleet of mobile devices, regardless of device type, mobile platform or location.

"The release of AirWatch 5.11 allows organizations of all sizes—from global enterprises to SMBs—to successfully manage enterprise mobility's many challenges as well as improve the ROI of their capital expenditures and technology investments," says John Marshall, AirWatch's CEO. "Throughout this release's development process, we leveraged the input of our growing customer base to identify and build this robust set of functionality. The result is a comprehensive MDM solution that efficiently and effectively manages a global organization's increasingly diverse fleet of mobile devices."

This new AirWatch release enables the use of different languages at the console level, while also allowing corporate IT to edit and localize the selected language, integrating any specific cultural, linguistic and industry-specific terms. AirWatch stores all languages in UniCode, converting all non-UniCode character sets during the editing and importing processes.

In addition to the globalization of its management console, AirWatch 5.11 also includes an expanded communications and integration platform. The expanded integration platform now includes a host of new standard APIs for continuous data imports and exports. These APIs include database imports used primarily for the initial population of the AirWatch database with foundation data; API imports used for system-to-system integration of data and transactions; API exports including alerts, device information, telecom information and GPS information; and single sign-on integration. The communications platform includes expanded SMS and APNS messaging, the ability to define the SMS gateway within the console at the location group/location level, and a SMS listener on the device for automated actions.

AirWatch's 5.11 release also includes a comprehensive software inventory module, ensuring all mobile devices are IT compliant from initial rollout until retirement. During initial deployment, this module maps each device to its specific IT-assigned ‘golden image' and then captures the device's initial inventory of applications, registry settings and files. With this initial software inventory captured, AirWatch can accurately track and manage these mobile assets, along with any new applications and upgrades downloaded throughout the device's lifecycle. During large-scale deployments, this functionality is especially helpful, because corporate IT can accurately track which devices have which applications, operating system and firmware versions, ensuring total compliance across large numbers of mobile devices. This lifecycle tracking also streamlines troubleshooting sessions, because time and effort spent determining the device's inventory of software and settings is completely eliminated.
