Airband Secures $3M In Additional Funding For Build-Out Of Fixed-Wireless Network To Meet Customer Demand

Airband Communications Inc., the industry's leading fixed-wireless company for businesses in the U.S., recently announced that its new $3M round of funding will be used to build out its fixed-wireless network to keep pace with growing demand from customers across all Airband markets.

Demand for Airband's service is coming from both the small-to-midsize customers who need broadband access in the 3 Mbps to 20 Mbps range, as well as larger customers requiring 45 Mbps up to GigE speeds for enterprise-class high-bandwidth services. In addition, Airband is also experiencing solid growth in both its National Account segment and Wholesale channel.

Businesses are leveraging Airband's affordable services for a variety of applications including Internet access, point-to-point dedicated data connections, WAN extensions, Voice over IP (VoIP), network path diversity for redundancy and disaster recovery, last-mile connectivity and backhaul.

"Every day, more businesses are choosing Airband because they want higher bandwidth and easily scalable services at a more reasonable price than traditional providers can offer," said Mark Spagnolo, president and CEO of Airband. "When businesses look at Airband, they see an unparalleled value proposition in price performance backed by service level guarantees and unmatched customer support."

In addition to being highly flexible and easy to deploy, Airband solutions are significantly more economical than bonded T1 services and other high-bandwidth wired offerings. Airband services are delivered via Ethernet connections and customers can easily upgrade bandwidth without additional equipment or bonding charges.

"The business model for fixed-wireless data and voice services at Airband has strong momentum, and we see that there's a compelling investment opportunity to pursue," said Salvatore Tirabassi, a partner with Airband investor M/C Venture Partners, and a member of Airband's board of directors. "In this economy, smart businesses are taking advantage of the compelling benefits of wireless technology like never before. Reliable, high-capacity data services and quality voice services over wireless technology are proving transformational for Airband's clients, and that's why we believe that Airband is the best choice for businesses nationwide."

Airband currently provides its services in 14 leading markets: Atlanta, Austin, TX; Baltimore; Charlotte, N.C.; Dallas/Fort Worth; Greensboro, N.C.; Houston; Los Angeles; Orange County, CA; Philadelphia; Phoenix; Raleigh/Durham, N.C., San Antonio and San Diego. The company offers its fixed-wireless broadband on both licensed and licensed-exempt spectrums.
