Disruptive technologies are emerging that will create new winners and losers in the service management industry.
We are entering an age of multiple enabling technologies — social media, mobile, analytics, cloud (aka SMAC or, according to Gartner, The Nexus of Forces), 3D printing, open data, near-field communications, augmented reality, robotics, and of course, the Internet of Things (IoT)/M2M. In the right combination, all of these technologies have transformational capabilities. In fact, they have the potential to transform entire industries. Look at the disruption created by companies like Uber, Airbnb, and TripAdvisor. They have established sectors on their heads with new enabling technology.
