Wireless Computing Gets A Boost

Law enforcement agencies have been able to significantly improve productivity and enhance police operations using mobile computing and wireless communications in the field. For rural departments, though, maintaining a reliable wireless connection can be a challenge, given spotty cellular coverage and geographic obstacles. The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, which is responsible for patrolling a wide swath of central Arizona, has solved this problem using wireless signal boosters that have enabled deputies to remotely access the agency’s records management system even in the most remote locations.
