Tech Update: Smart Grid Development: Slow But Steady

When the federal stimulus for Smart Grid was announced in late 2009, those in the M2M (machine-to-machine) industry were immediately excited about the potential for growth in the space. Many utilities, however, remained uncertain about how to approach Smart Grid projects and what the benefit would really be to their organizations. In the last article I wrote on this topic in March 2010 (http://bit.ly/hmjKWI), experts explained that while the stimulus funds would go a long way in regard to increasing awareness and adoption of the Smart Grid, it will be many years — even decades — before the full scope of Smart Grid is recognized.
