Resource Article: RFID Container Tracking Evolving Slowly

During the past decade, a host of government agencies and technology vendors have developed wireless solutions to help improve cargo security and container management. Cargo containers are expensive assets, and they are regularly stuffed with valuable goods and shipped around the world via a process that involves handling by multiple government agencies and private shipping firms. Containers are often used to smuggle drugs or other contraband and could potentially be compromised by terrorists to conceal explosives. Tracking these containers in real time could conceivably improve supply chain efficiency and better secure the containers against theft or misuse.
