The mobile computing options available to enterprise users have expanded phenomenally over the past several years. Today's handheld computers, PDAs, smartphones, laptops, tablet computers, and netpads come to market with varying degrees of ruggedization and a slew of new features. "All mobile enterprise applications require a form of rugged mobile computing," says Gerald McNerney, vice president, mobile computing product management at Motorola. "These products are designed to withstand the rigors of everyday use in tough environments, while offering functionality and usability that is applicable to an enterprise environment."
