Rugged Tablet Pioneer. Leader. Innovator.
Founded in 1996, Xplore Technologies is a respected leader and pioneer of next-generation rugged mobile wireless tablet PCs for domestic and global markets. The company serves end-users in the most demanding environments that include oil and gas, telecommunications, construction/engineering, utilities, warehousing/logistics, public safety, field service, transportation, manufacturing, and military.
The driving force behind Xplore's success has been its "Voice of the Customer" approach – the product development methodology based on the daily challenges faced by clients in the field and on the front lines. The company listens to what their customers say and then focuses on designing, developing, testing, and delivering the most rugged, reliable tablet PCs in the industry with the critical wireless, performance, and expansion capabilities their customers demand.
Setting New Standards in "Real World Rugged"
Xplore computers meet the strictest specifications in the world and reliably perform under the toughest conditions. It's what we call "Real World Rugged" – like 4-foot drops to concrete. In the ‘real world" users don't drop their computers onto plywood over concrete… they drop them directly onto concrete and need them to keep running. That's ‘Real World Rugged'. Our ingress protection doesn't mean just being "dust-proof with limited ingress permitted from low pressure jets of water". "Real World Rugged" means "dust-proof and protected against the effect of immersion of up to 1 meter" in water while the system is on. That's what our customers say they need. That's what we build.
To ensure Xplore computers are "Real World Rugged", they are first tested at our own in-house testing laboratory. Then our systems are third-party tested to certify that they meet or exceed stringent "real world" specifications based on the Military Standard for Environmental Testing (MIL-SPEC-810G), Ingress Protection (IP) 67, and Hazardous Location (HazLoc) certifications including:
- 4' drops to concrete with system "on", 26 total drops
- 7' operating drops to plywood over concrete
- submersion in up to 3 feet of water
- extreme temperature tolerances as low as -4° F and as high as 160° F
- exposure to blowing rain, sand, dust, and salt fog spray
- constant vibration and crash shock
Xplore Technologies has spent more than a decade on research, development and product generation improvements. Among its industry "firsts" – Xplore was the first company to incorporate dual-mode inputs with active pen and finger touch capabilities. Xplore also pioneered the best outdoor-readable displays and wLAN wireless solutions. Xplore's signature iX104 computers have consistently been recognized for their ruggedness, versatility and best-in-class technologies, receiving industry recognition from Pen Computing ("Best Rugged Slate-Style Tablet PC"), Tablet PC2 ("Editor's Choice Award for the AllVue™ Screen") and Laptop Magazine.
