Telematics Captures Big Data — But How Do You Benefit From It?
By Tony Candeloro, VP of product development, ARI, www.arifleet.com
The amount of data you receive from a telematics solution can be overwhelming, but these tips will help you put it to work for you.
Smart fleet managers already look to vehicle and driver performance metrics to help guide the multitude of decisions they need to make about their fleets on a daily basis. The installation of the newest telematics technology can improve a fleet manager’s ability to make smarter, more targeted decisions. But tracking and managing telematics data, along with the rest of a fleet’s data, efficiently and successfully is the key to ensuring you are able to make the most informed decisions about your fleet.
According to a recent Berg Insight research report, the number of fleet management systems installed in commercial vehicle fleets in North America at the end of 2011 was 2.8 million and was expected to reach 5.9 million by 2016. This increase confirms that telematics data is becoming more readily available, and smart fleet managers should begin to consider how to use it to their advantage.
