Some solutions leverage vehicle location information, others simply track technicians via their mobile devices. The level of functionality available in these solutions can range from simply providing intermittent location information to fullfledged fleet management systems that can be used to measure idling, reduce speeding, and improve overall driver performance.

Cable ONE, headquartered in Phoenix, AZ, is a cable service provider that serves 650,000 subscribers in 19 states with cable television, Internet, and phone services. The company has used a mobile workforce management solution for its 800 technicians and 45 dispatchers for nearly eight years. The techs access the application from the field using Panasonic Toughbook CF-19 rugged mobile computers.
