Simplifying Mobility Minimizes Support Costs

Cardinal Logistics Management has eliminated hundreds of thousands of dollars in staging costs by moving to a consistent mobile solution.

Third-party logistics companies face unique challenges when it comes to mobile deployments. For dedicated carriers, each customer has different needs and requirements; developing mobility solutions that meet those needs can result in a patchwork deployment and fragmented environment that inevitably sucks up an increasing amount of IT support resources.

For Cardinal Logistics Management, a Concord, NC-based dedicated third-party delivery and logistics company, that approach resulted in a tangle of different hardware platforms and software solutions that became increasingly expensive to manage and support. Cardinal has had mobile computing solutions in place for a number of years, but the mobile solutions varied across its customer base. In fact, to put it in perspective, Cardinal was operating 120 distinct projects for roughly 50 different customers with unique application requirements and multiple types of mobile devices and software.
