Honeywell Global Tracking Introduces New Full-Featured Satellite Terminals For Asset Tracking

Rugged, reliable TAM-442 terminal tracks assets anywhere in the world with new features including over-the-air configuration vehicle charging and oil & gas certification

Honeywell announces the TAM-442 satellite terminal for asset tracking and monitoring. This battery-powered terminal from Honeywell Global Tracking, a division of Honeywell Scanning and Mobility, is rugged, versatile and ideally suited for tracking a wide range of mobile and fixed assets, including trucks, vehicles, containers, rail cars and other heavy equipment.

The new terminal offers a number of features, including Over-The-Air (OTA) configuration, a vehicle charger that allows users to operate the terminal even when charging, two general purpose input/output ports for connecting external equipment like door sensors and panic buttons, a new ruggedized connector that can withstand years of use in harsh environments, Class 1/Division 2-certification for use in oil & gas environments and improved battery life.

The TAM-442 is designed for tracking applications with more frequent reporting rates where the terminal is regularly moved between assets and includes a rechargeable battery that lasts more than five weeks with reports every 15 minutes, and up to 36 weeks when reports run every six hours. Similar to previous models, the TAM-442 uses the field-proven Inmarsat IsatM2M satellite protocol which offers affordable airtime packages, 99.9 percent network uptime and global coverage (outside of the polar regions).

“The TAM-442 is an extremely powerful and reliable system to monitor maritime assets globally. It’s easy to install quickly and covertly where no external power is readily available, making it a great fit for our maritime security solution,” says Brian Kane, director of research and development at Global Ocean Security Technologies (GOST). A long-time Honeywell Global Tracking customer, GOST offers a full line of wireless security, monitoring, satellite tracking, surveillance, acoustic deterrents and cloaking systems for any size vessel from tenders to ships.

“Our industry-leading asset tracking solutions have helped customers around the world increase the security and integrity of their supply chains for many years,” said Dave Sharratt, general manager, Honeywell Global Tracking. “The new TAM terminals offer a range of new customer-focused features and capabilities that will also help improve productivity and reduce maintenance and fuel costs – giving our customers an important competitive advantage.”

The TAM-442 is currently available from Honeywell Global Tracking partners and distributors.
