Datamax - O'Neil Introduces Two New PrintPADs™ Designed To Integrate With Intermec's CN3 And CN3e Mobile Handheld Computers

Datamax - O'Neil, a business unit of Dover Corporation, recently announced the availability of the PrintPAD CN3 and PrintPAD CN3e, which combines the company's 4te — the industry's most reliable portable 4" thermal printer, with an integrated cradle for Intermec's recently introduced CN3 and CN3e mobile handheld computers. Datamax - O'Neil's PrintPADs offer mobile workers the convenience of a "carry, charge and communicate" solution that combines a sleek, ergonomic design with rugged reliability. It meets the demanding requirements of route accounting, direct store delivery and other field mobile applications.

The innovative PrintPAD CN3 and PrintPAD CN3e designs offer the mobile workforce a compact unit in which to carry their Intermec handheld and their Datamax - O'Neil printer. The PrintPAD charges both the printer and the handheld simultaneously, eliminating the need for multiple A.C. adaptors and chargers. The unit can even be charged between service appointments via a cigarette lighter adapter. In addition, the PrintPAD provides effortless and reliable communication between the handheld and the printer. With the introduction of these PrintPAD models, we now offer a factory-service upgrade path that allows deployed PrintPADs to be converted to fit newer model handhelds from the main manufacturers. This service offering protects the customer's investment in the PrintPAD by extending its life and expanding its handheld compatibility.

The new PrintPAD assists point-of-sale applications with an optional built-in magnetic stripe card reader allowing the easy collection of credit or debit card payments. Users can quickly determine the printer's Bluetooth, charging and power status with the PrintPAD's external LEDs. For direct store delivery applications, optional DEX capabilities are available, allowing communication via DEX connections with no special software or mechanical switches.

The PrintPAD CN3 and PrintPAD CN3e can print up to 1,320 - 6.2" long receipts on a single battery charge with automated power-saving, sleep, and wake-up modes. It prints top-quality 80-column condensed font receipts, graphics, and international fonts, on direct thermal paper and labels. Additional standard features include a USB port, a non-skid surface on the printer's backside and an easy release printer latch for enhanced usability by field service operators. The PrintPAD CN3 is also the world's first integrated computing and printing device to successfully survive multiple 6-foot drops to concrete.

Datamax - O'Neil's entire line of PrintPAD solutions are compatible with both internal and third-party software that enables all the devices within a network environment to be remotely managed from a Windows Desktop. This centralized, remote management capability saves customers time, reduces on-site travel expenses, facilitates printer user support, and minimizes the overall total cost of printer management.

"The new PrintPAD CN3 and PrintPAD CN3e are yet another demonstration of our leadership and commitment in the integrated printing systems market segment and expands our line to include all the major mobile handheld computer manufacturers," said Paul Lehmann, director of product management for Datamax - O'Neil. "Datamax - O'Neil introduced the first 'carry, charge and communicate' solution and we will ensure that our rugged, reliable and flexible PrintPAD products set the highest standards within our industry."
