Wearable computers are slowly proving themselves in field service applications.

Wearable mobile devices have continued to grab attention and headlines. Even as Google Glass left the market, its parent company announced a wearable version of the Android OS, and Apple made a splash with its own pricey Apple Watch. However, what you’re likely interested in is how wearables are slowly shifting from consumer novelties to enterprise-class mobile devices. “Connected workers are starting to use wearables to equip them with access to more data than ever before, so they can make quicker, smarter, and more proactive decisions, improving productivity and reducing costs for their businesses, while enhancing safety in the workplace,” says Srini Ramadath, managing director for Accenture Digital-Mobility. “Head-mounted displays, smartwatches, and other new devices will enable the presentation of data from previously ‘dumb’ devices, now enabled with sensors and connectivity.”
