Wireless Matrix Announces Largest Single Commercial Deployment Of TechConnect Two-Way Communication Services
Wireless Matrix Corporation announced recently the deployment of an integrated solution to support fleet location and communication services for a key cable multi-service operator (MSO) customer in the Midwestern United States.
The solution, which will be implemented on approximately 2,500 vehicles, combines Wireless Matrix's FleetOutlook vehicle management solution and TechConnect real-time two-way messaging module with an in-vehicle Garmin personal navigation device. The combination of elements supports hands-free in-cab navigation, two-way communication between drivers and dispatchers, and vehicle location and information reporting.
Both the dispatcher and the driver realize benefits from the solution. For dispatchers, the solution provides real-time vehicle intelligence, including location information, vehicle status and alert messaging, which can be leveraged to coordinate drivers to ensure the most effective job assignment. Two-way text communication allows dispatchers and drivers to coordinate changes in schedule in real-time for improved planning, exception handling and customer satisfaction.
The driver receives address information wirelessly from FleetOutlook to the Garmin device, facilitating turn-by-turn directions and high-quality in-vehicle navigation. This improved accuracy in reaching the job site can potentially save driving miles and fuel dollars.
"Pairing FleetOutlook with the Garmin navigation device is a natural integration of complementary technologies," said J. Richard Carlson, president and CEO of Wireless Matrix. "Using these combined services, this cable customer is positioned for more robust communications and greater job productivity while leveraging existing investments."
Initial deployment of the solution is underway, and is expected to be completed in July, 2010.
