The mobile security focus has shifted from devices to data and productivity.

The adoption of mobile devices in the enterprise (both corporate-owned and personal) has, in many companies, accelerated so quickly that IT teams have been hard-pressed to keep up with managing and securing them. Security has always been a concern, but it has grown in importance as the number of platforms and the ability to download unapproved applications has expanded.

The new capabilities of modern smartphones and tablets have caused a shift in the security focus, from simply managing devices and providing user access to securing data (regardless of the device it’s housed on) and maximizing employee productivity. Keeping personal and corporate data separate has been a primary focus of this security strategy.
