Experts reflect on the biggest technology trends of 2014 and look ahead to what 2015 will bring.
As 2014 comes to a close, Field Technologies asked a panel of solution providers in the field service automation space about the top trends in the industry — and what 2015 might hold. Key among those trends were the increasing importance of the technician to the enterprise, and the empowerment of mobile workers with new technology.
“This reflects a recognition by field service organizations that a knowledgeable, well-equipped mobile worker who can resolve customer issues on the first visit is essential to driving service excellence and, ultimately, customer satisfaction,” says John Cameron, general manager of the field service management division at Trimble. “You really can’t overestimate the importance of empowering mobile workers in today’s field service organizations. Mobile devices and data ensure technicians get to the right place on time, fix the customer’s problem the first time, and move on to the next task — and then do it all over again.”
