Are Your Drivers Putting Safety First?
Universal Protection Service, a division of Universal Services of America, uses a Trimble telematics solution for its fleet of 66 vehicles that install and maintain security solutions. Within weeks, the company noticed that it had reduced speeding by 80 percent and avoided speed-related crashes.
Bob Jones, Universal’s fleet loss and prevention manager, said: “We sit all our drivers down and give them a safety test, but there’s nothing you can do about common sense. Trimble helps us close that gap. I’d like to believe we’ve saved lives.”
For any organization with mobile workers, getting drivers home safely each day is a primary goal. We know that injury collisions occur every 10 seconds(1), and that close to 1.2 million people are killed in traffic collisions each year. That number is expected to more than double by 2020(2).
To drivers and their families, an injury crash is devastating. Each injury crash costs an organization an average of $74,000 USD, while a non-injury crash costs an average of $16,500 USD(3).
