Remote Monitoring Provides New Service Opportunities
As enterprises become more decentralized and dispersed, serving customers across the country and around the globe, remote monitoring and machine-tomachine(M2M) communications have played a greater role in monitoring and maintaining equipment and asset performance. Remote monitoring technology allows companies to receive performance and equipment status data directly from their products or assets (computers, machinery, meters, etc.) and then diagnose and, in some cases, fix problems without having to send a service technician to the location.
According to Aberdeen Group's recent report, The Evolution of Remote Product Service and the Emergence of Smart Services, use of remote monitoring tools has rapidly increased over the past several years.
