Xplore Technologies, maker of the most rugged tablets on earth, has always been at the forefront of innovation, with an extra emphasis on safety. With the option of in-vehicle mounting using Xplore’s docks and tablets is at an all-time high, safety is one of Xplore's top priorities. When we think of distracted driving caused by technology, we tend to only think of consumer motor vehicles, such as automobiles or other means of transportation, but seldomly think of commercial vehicles, such as forklifts, military vehicles, EMS, police vehicles and other heavy machinery. Mobile deployments of rugged tablets is becoming the norm in field services, utilities, oil and gas, and other industries that have technical needs out in the rugged landscape, and that means more safety concerns of drivers and bystanders alike.

According to the Transportation Research Board, it is estimated that commercial motor vehicle drivers were engaged in non-driving related activities in 71% of crashes. Driver distraction from technology has become a huge, but preventable problem. In cases where technology like rugged tablets need to be used in vehicles for work purposes, solutions like tablet PC mounts for vehicles exist, and should be more widely used to curb driver distractions. In addition to this, other specialized software and hardware solutions are made to help prevent distraction while driving.
