Top Five Reasons Enterprise Mobile Deployments Fail, Guest Series Part 3
By Barry Smith, VP of Professional Services, Stratix Corporation
We are on the verge of a "hockey-stick" boom in the deployment of enterprise mobility solutions. VDC is predicting a 14% increase for 2010 followed by annual growth increases of 11% by 2014. Many organizations are unchaining their mobile investments at just the right time. Integrated 3G/4G WWAN technologies, new form factors and mobile applications are answering tough challenges in customer service, asset visibility, mobile workforce management and security. Whether or not their decision to go mobile now will be a good decision in three years depends largely on their deployment/service strategy — and very little on the hardware they choose.
Too many organizations miss this point. Often an implementation that was supposed to take six weeks is now taking six months and running thousands of dollars over budget. Avoiding these missteps in enterprise mobility deployments will help you: 1) construct a solid and efficient rollout strategy, 2) manage the long-term components that drive year-over-year ROI, and 3) ensure that your mobile workforce will adopt and embrace the new technology.
