Taking Mobility To The Next Level: Put Your Focus On The Customer Experience

Source: Panasonic Corporation of North America

Mobile computing solutions are increasingly ubiquitous in the enterprise field service space, not only because technology enables field workers to do their jobs more effectively and efficiently, but also because companies are focusing on how mobile computing solutions can be used to improve the overall service experience for their customers. Mobile computers and applications have also become cost effective and easy enough to use that even smaller service organizations have embraced the technology.

MarketsandMarkets forecasts the global field service management market to grow from $1.58 billion in 2014 to $3.52 billion by 2019, at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 17.3%. And the majority of those organizations with field service teams have incorporated a mobile computing component as part of their overall solution for field service automation.

Actual adoption of mobile devices (handhelds, smartphones, tablets, etc.) is growing, particularly in the enterprise. VDC Research estimates that enterprises deployed some 3.4 million rugged handheld devices in 2015 and 32 million smartphones. Enterprise shipments of tablets are expected to grow by 12.1% annually for line of business applications, despite the overall market for tablet computers (including consumer devices) declining by 2% in 2015.
