Socket Mobile And SOTI Partner To Enable The Mobile Worker Anytime, Anywhere

SOTI's MobiControl simplifies mobile device management and gives Socket customers the ability to quickly provision and manage SoMo 650 handhelds for any size deployment

Socket Mobile, Inc., an innovative provider of mobile productivity solutions, recently announced a partnership with SOTI, Inc., a recognized leader in providing ground-breaking Mobile Device Management (MDM) software. SOTI's award-winning MobiControl MDM software technology is deployed by over 80,000 customers worldwide and solves the unique challenges of tracking, monitoring and controlling mobile devices. MobiControl Version 8 has been tested and certified for use with the Socket SoMo 650 handheld computer, and this partnership further enhances the efficiency and market presence of Socket hardware in the enterprise space. In addition to this, beginning February 2011 all Socket Mobile SoMo series will be preloaded with the SOTI MobiScan application.

MobiScan is an out-of-the box software solution which allows a user to configure the MobiControl Agent and connection settings (Wi-Fi, Cellular APN, etc.) on Windows CE and Windows Mobile powered devices. This will allow the device to establish network connectivity and communicate with the MobiControl Deployment Server.

Corporate users deploying Socket SoMo devices with MobiControl v8 benefit by reducing total cost of ownership through automated processes, lowering labor costs, increasing productivity, and maximizing ROI. Users can minimize downtime, shorten training curves, increase user adoption, reduce support, and overall simplify device management.

SOTI's MobiControl was declared the winner of the 2010 Microsoft Mobility Solution of the Year and is the number one Mobile Device Management, Helpdesk, Security, and Tracking solution in the world. MobiControl optimizes operations and productivity with its rapid and reliable performance over any network and with any size of deployment. Device models can be mixed and matched since MobiControl is compatible with consumer and ruggedized devices, and available in multiple languages including English, French, German, Spanish and Japanese. New features in MobiControl Version 8 include Web-based Management Console, Provisioning devices via barcode with MobiScan, and Standalone Authentication.

"With Socket Mobile's expertise in the data collection and portable computing market, our partnership is the perfect strategic decision," said Carl Rodrigues, president and CEO of SOTI. "We at SOTI aim to complete the cycle of delivering high quality satisfaction and performance to the users by simplifying MDM from a software perspective, and with this new partnership, SOTI can ensure our solution reaches those who need superior control over their SoMo mobile handhelds."

"SOTI MobiControl provides Socket customers with a comprehensive, certified provisioning and device management solution, thus empowering corporate IT to manage SoMo 650 deployments quickly, confidently and cost effectively," said Dave Bledsoe, senior product manager, handheld computer products, Socket Mobile.
