Is Windows Phone 8 A Pheonix?

By Mary Brittain-White, CEO, Retriever Communications

Believing that Phone 8 will arise from the ashes and take a significant market share in the enterprise space would get great odds with any bookie and it is my bet for 2015!

However, currently Windows Phone has less than 3 percent of the market so can my bet be taken seriously?

My argument is threefold

  1. The tight fit of Phone 8 into corporate environments
  2. The price point and quality of the product
  3. The limitations of iPhones in many industrial environments opens it up for market share loss.

Corporate Synergy

Phone 8 is a great fit for corporate users with low to medium–high security requirements, and its close interlocking to Microsoft exchange positions it well as a RIM replacement. This is not so easily achieved in an Android or iOS environment when the back office environment is Microsoft.

Moreover, the phone’s active tile approach is mirrored in Microsoft laptop and workstation operating systems, so the resistance to Microsoft’s new paradigm is quickly curtailed when it becomes a standard interface throughout the day for corporate users.
