Many industrial work sites encounter harsh conditions with strong gusts of dust, sand, debris and precipitation affecting crews work environments. In an industry where using computer technology could be easily damaged from dust or water, crews need a device that is IP67-rated and built to withstand the most extreme conditions.

What Does the IP67-Rated Mean?
The International Electro-Technical Commission (IEC) first established the letters "IP" to stand for "International Protection" rating or "Ingress Protection" rating, reported Source Tech 411. The rating allows consumers to see the level of protection against any possible contamination from materials or liquids that could enter a device or electrical enclosure.

The numbers belong to a protection-rating table that is also produced with the U.S. National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA). The first digit measures the ingress of solid objects that could damage the device, with the highest level being "6" and the lowest a "0" (absolute no protection) rating. Rugged tablets have a "6" on the protection-rating table, which is far above consumer devices and will insure dust and other debris will not affect the computer device.
