Commonwealth Edison Selects Clevest's Mobile Workforce Management For Its AMI Deployment

Clevest Software Now Chosen by all Exelon Utilities

Clevest Solutions Inc., a leading provider of mobile workforce automation software including smart grid mobile technology, has been selected by Commonwealth Edison (ComEd), a division of Exelon, for Clevest Mobile Workforce Management (MWFM) deployed as a secure private cloud-based solution. Chicago-based ComEd is using Clevest MWFM version 5.0 to manage its AMI deployment of over four million new smart meters over what is anticipated to be a four year period.

With ComEd, Clevest’s software has now been chosen by all of Exelon’s utilities for their AMI deployments, and is already in use at Baltimore Gas & Electric (BGE) and PECO Energy Company (PECO).

Charles Parsons, VP Sales North America for Clevest, emphasized, “This agreement calls attention to the value Clevest’s next-generation MWFM delivers to utilities undertaking large-scale AMI initiatives. With Clevest MWFM, ComEd can direct its own resources as well as third party contractors with the same platform and workflows. The improved oversight from inventory management to appointment booking, routing and meter exchanges greatly improves efficiency, quality and customer satisfaction. The Clevest solution will now be in place at Exelon’s three major utilities to support their AMI programs.”

“We selected Clevest based on the company’s impressive track record in the industry, including with our peer Exelon utilities,” indicated Greg Chiszar, Manager Materials and Logistics, AMI Deployment for ComEd. “As we undertake our AMI initiative, we’re confident that Clevest MWFM has the breadth of functionality and the flexibility we want to give us the overall program control we need for success. The fact that we can use the same mobile solution with already-prescribed workflows to manage the operations and maintenance of our new AMI infrastructure once deployed was also an appealing factor,” Chiszar added.

ComEd announced this week that it had installed its one millionth smart meter in its service territory. Their mission of installing nearly four million smart meters began in 2013 and, on an accelerated timeline path, is expected to be complete in 2018 – three years ahead of schedule.

To date, 51 utilities have selected Clevest for their AMI deployment projects. Combined, the Clevest solution has supported approximately 31% of the total smart meter installations in North America.
