Rugged Tablet PCs optimize mobile dispatch and electronic patient care recording at one of the largest private ambulance services in the US

Motion Computing, a leading global provider of mobile technology, announced recently Acadian Ambulance, one of the largest private ambulance services in the US, is deploying F5t Rugged Tablet PCs across their fleet for mobile dispatch and electronic patient care recording. The Motion technology works seamlessly with Sansio HealthEMS software and Acadian’s back-office systems to optimize EMT and paramedic field work.

“When we began looking for an electronic patient care record solution to improve our efficiencies and service to our patients and communities, we had specific requirements in mind,” said Joey Branton, Director of Technology at Acadian Health. “In addition to the hardware and software working together, the hardware needed to be highly mobile and very durable with a powerful processor. Motion delivered a solution that met our requirements as well as impressed the field users, who found it more similar to their own consumer devices that any other tablet we trialed. Our field users quickly embraced the technology- which made the roll-out smoother and faster.”

Before the mobile solution was in place, EMTs at Acadian Ambulance didn’t have an easy way to document patient care at the time of the incident. Documentation was not optimized to enhance productivity and efficiency. Acadian needed a true mobile electronic patient care record that reduced paper and improved electronic data entry to enhance the quality patient care the company is known for.

Today, incident location and information is pushed out to EMTs and paramedics on Motion Tablets. Once patient care is delivered, Acadian care providers begin documenting medical records on the Tablets. The point-of-care system works in an offline mode and updates automatically whenever the Wi-Fi- enabled Motion Tablet detects the secure network is available on each ambulance.

“With Motion tablets, we are able to complete electronic patient care records as close to the point-of-care as possible and continue documentation throughout the shift,” said Branton. “As these software and hardware technologies have been deployed the company has realized many efficiencies and benefits that promise to have a positive impact on patient care and service delivery.”
