By Intermec Technologies Corporation
CARQUEST, a leading automotive supplier, serves its customers through more than 3,400 auto parts stores and more than 40 distribution centers across North America. It is the premier supplier of replacement products, accessories, supplies and equipment for nearly all makes of automobiles as well as light and heavy duty trucks, off-road equipment, buses, recreational vehicles and agricultural equipment. Additionally, CARQUEST distributes and sells tools, equipment, chemicals, paints and accessories.
CARQUEST prides itself on customer service and technology excellence using metric-driven service levels and worldclass products and technologies to provide valuable solutions to its customers. To uphold its customer service excellence standards, CARQUEST realized that it needed to replace its paper-based processes in its distribution centers in order to improve inventory levels and increase invoice accuracy, quality control and customer service. In 2003, the company selected HighJump's Warehouse Advantage warehouse management system (WMS), later named the distribution center management system (DCMS) within the company.
CARQUEST experienced immediate, improved operational efficiency and customer service with its new DCMS. However in 2005, prior to rolling out the system to additional distribution centers, CARQUEST evaluated the system to troubleshoot existing challenges.
